Feeling alone, facing many struggles but determined to do better than her dad. Emely Ruiz, a hard-working, beautiful young lady, is inspired by her father to someday work in e-business or special education and be successful. “My ultimate ambition is to buy my father his dream house and pay him back for all the effort he made while raising my siblings and me,” she says.
Emely feels that she has a lot in common with the book The Alchemist because at the moment she is going through a lot of changes in her life. One of the characters in the book is too. Emely says she is feeling a lot of self-doubt and questioning who she could be.
She is really trying to be the best person possible and help her father open a business for making fences while also helping others prosper too. Since she was little, she has dreamed of opening her own business and is determined to make that dream a reality.
While Emely is struggling with many things, she is still motivated to accomplish the goals she has set for herself. She feels her position in the National Honors Society and the Spanish Honors Society help her to stay focused. They “keep me motivated and be a better version of myself,” she says.
Despite, or maybe because of, her struggles, Emely says her greatest achievement is acceptance. “Learning to love and accept myself. Rather than critiquing any aspect of my being, I learned that those very flaws are what create my persona.”
She wants others to realize that “taking care of yourself is one of the greatest forms of love.”
