With Miss Cardinal slowly approaching, we have been able to get one-on-one interviews with the lovely Miss Cardinal contestants to really understand who they are off the pageant runway.
Rosa Santana is a persevering, compassionate, and fearless girl who is ready to take over the runway. Rosa is a mentor in the program of Big Brother Big Sister and is a proud member of the Cardinal City Basketball Team.
All right, Miss Santana to begin our interview, let’s talk about why you want to start a non-profit business…
Santana was taking a few moments to think of her answer. She explained she wants to start a non-profit business so she can help people in low-income communities to make sure they don’t go through the same struggles she has gone through.
What steps are you going to take to make that dream into a reality?
Ms. Santana was swift to respond with her step-by-step plan that begins with attending a four-year college and earning a degree in business. After that, she plans to network and find people who are willing to donate, support, and promote her non-profit organization.
Now Miss Santana, what is the goal of your non-profit organization?
With a slight cough, Santana describes how the goal of her organization is to reach out and help the people who are struggling and restore the hope they’ve lost.
Miss Santana starting a non-profit is difficult. What are your leadership skills and how do you express them?
This was a true curve ball for Santana, but she spoke with a answer that she knew was the truth. The leadership skills Santana possesses are perseverance and passion. Her perseverance allows her to never give up and to continue to fight for what she believes in or what needs to be done. As for her passion, it allows her to relate and understand what the people her organization wants to help.
What is your definition of a leader?
“My definition of a leader is someone who can stand up for others and lend a helping hand no matter the situation. And doesn’t judge what someone is going through.”
