2018-2019 Miss Cardinal Contestant 7: Katie Ortiz

With Miss Cardinal slowly approaching, we have been able to get one-on-one interviews with the lovely Miss Cardinal contestants to better understand who they are off the runway.

Katie Ortiz is a strong, happy, and vulnerable girl who is ready to show that while she might be the newcomer, she can still rule the runway. Katie is a participant of the academic program known as RYLA.

So, Miss Ortiz, you are new to the Miss Cardinal group. How has your experience been so far? What has currently your greatest achievement during the pageant?

Ortiz smiles and states that so far her biggest achievement is meeting new people, connecting with the other contestants, and learning more about those involved in Miss Cardinal.

Miss Katie, one of your life ambitions is to succeed and be a successful nurse. This goal requires a lot of learning. Is learning a key point in success for you? If yes, why?

Ortiz was a little rattled that one of her first questions went this deep, but she responded wisely. She does believe that learning is a major key to success because when you learn new things, you can use that new information to accomplish tasks you couldn’t do before.

What are the steps you are going to take to accomplish your goal of becoming a successful nurse?

Ortiz responded that she that she wants to graduate high school with a good GPA, be accepted into the medical field that is usually impacted, and participate in extra-curricular activities that will help her in the long run – such as Miss Cardinal.

What is your definition of success?

“Well…my definition of success is completing the things I’ve joined until the very end. For example, here in Miss Cardinal, whether I win or lose, I will know that I have succeeded because I’ve completed the challenge I joined till the very end. And learning the dance fairly quickly since I was the newcomer of the group.”

Remember to support Katie Ortiz as she competes for the title of Miss Cardinal 2018-2019 on September 15, 2018 at Sturges Center for the Performing Arts doors open at 5 pm.
