Farewell Mr. Kirby

On February 28, 2018, our beloved Mr. Kirby was promoted to Program Specialist in charge of Advanced Learners and will be working with district personnel at the Professional Development Center. Throughout his twelve years here at Cardinal City (his first job as a teacher!) he was a man of many hats – a Social Studies teacher, an English teacher and Department Chair, the SUMMA adviser, the Anime adviser, and so much more.

His passion for teaching was reflected every day, through his energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to help everyone. “My best memory are the relationships with the students and the people here, because they’re outstanding and because San Bernardino High School is a very special place. This will always be home to me, but the thing that stands out the most are the warm and strong relationships formed here.” And as he reflected back on his first day at SBHS with a melancholy smile on his face, he told that that he was very nervous as a social studies teacher. He didn’t know what to expect, but he discovered that if you try, things tend to work out.

On behalf of Cardinal City, we thank you Mr. Kirby for your twelve years of teaching here and remember, “Once a Cardinal always a Cardinal!”
