2018-2019 Miss Cardinal Contestant 5: Lucero Beltran

Contestant Lucero Beltrán vies for the title of Miss Cardinal along with 17 other young ladies. Beltrán has taken this opportunity to become Miss Cardinal in order to overcome her shyness, gain self-confidence, and challenge herself. She feels more comfortable with herself and will accept any opportunities that come her way.

Beltrán wants to become Miss Cardinal to learn more and help her community. She also wants to show others it is possible to overcome their shyness and become more confident.

“It’s not bad to be a shy person, but it would be best if you’re outgoing because you’re more exposed to things you’re usually used to and you’re trying new things. Unlike being a shy person where you’re going to keep doing the same thing over and over again,” she said.

The Miss Cardinal City Pageant’s purpose extends beyond improving and promoting San Bernardino High School. Its mission also centers around district and community involvement. Contestants participate in numerous community service events and district functions to aid both SBCUSD and the city of San Bernardino.

Beltrán takes this responsibility seriously. She is the vice president of the Dual Immersion Program. She is involved with Robotics, Art Club, Travel Club, the Spanish Honors Society, and her current pathway is Law & Society. She is also in Link Crew, which is a program that allows sophomores, juniors, and seniors to help freshmen be more comfortable in high school and understand how it functions.

Although there are many beautiful contestants, only one will take the crown as Miss Cardinal. Each lady will be given a chance to show why they are worthy of the title and how they will help the school and San Bernardino. However, with her newly-found sense of self and confidence, Lucero Beltrán may not be easy to beat.

Come out and support Lucero as she competes for the crown of Miss Cardinal on September 15th at the Sturges Center! Doors open at 5 pm and the show begins at 6 pm!
