As a freshman just starting high school, Miranda Maestas saw senior girls dressing up for a pageant called Miss Cardinal. She was interested, but still wasn’t sure if she would participate in the pageant when she became a senior.
“My family and friends motivated me to join Miss Cardinal, and I wanted to give back to the community by doing community service,” she explained.
Miranda likes to give back to her community and to make people smile. When someone is feeling sad, she will try her best to make that person smile. One of her most memorable experiences was the first event she went to. “We passed out food to our community and seeing their smiles really made my day and made me want to continue to help out even more,” she said.
She also wants to give back to her parents and thank them for their support. “My ambition in life is to make my parents proud and create a life for myself that they helped give me so I will never have to struggle or rely on anyone,” she said.
The more Miranda participated in Miss Cardinal preparation, the more she felt her confidence in herself growing. She knows participating in this competition will help her in her future and she will enjoy more success in college.
“The most beautiful thing is confidence and loving yourself,” she said.
One of her greatest achievements was joining ASB. She felt accomplished when she joined ASB and it is paying off because she is making a difference in school and in her community. She is also a three-year cheerleader and a two-year Link Crew member. Miranda is making a difference in her community by being involved in after school activities and helping other students feel comfortable in and outside of campus.
Miss Cardinal is helping Miranda accomplish her goals which are making a change in her community and giving back to people. This will make her feel accomplished because she is making a difference and is also is making her parents very proud of her.
