Valuing friends and family along with community service is important when wanting to accomplish your goals. Marjorie Beltran has made an amazing impact on our school and is now ready for a new chapter. Beltran is a senior hoping to enjoy her last year and keep helping others in her community. She is grateful for her friends and family that she has and is grateful to be able to help others.

When she came to the United States, Beltran did not know how to speak English, but she met a lot of students and teachers who were there to help her through it all. They inspired her to want to be the kind of person who helps people. Beltran plans to attend a four year university and pursue a career in criminal law after graduation.
“I plan to major in political science and government and get a bachelor’s degree,” Beltran said.
She has worked hard to earn her diploma and is hoping to inspire other students who are younger to work hard and never give up.
“A piece of advice I have for upcoming freshmen is to trust themselves, to not let anyone else talk down on them, don’t get into any drama and always stay ahead of the work, even when you don’t feel like it, always do extra,” Beltran said.
Beltran was a junior and is now a senior. Because of the extra hard work that she has done during her freshman and sophomore years, she was able to complete her junior year early. Before she graduates, she hopes to be an inspiration to others and is involved in many activities in and out of school and is a help to our community.
“I want to be a role model for others that are grades below me and I want to be able to inspire them because I see many people, especially in school, become hopeless day by day because they think they can’t accomplish it,” she said.
She is currently in many activities like tennis, Spanish Honor Society, Life Skills, Baile Folklorico, Prom Committee, and Students for Change. She’s also involved in helping her local church distribute food and is a tutor for ELD kids. She also does campus clean ups every Tuesday after school.
“There was this one time that I was at church helping out, and this lady came up to me and said ‘God bless you,’ and I saw her crying, and I want to keep doing that,” she said. “I want to keep seeing those faces that they’re grateful to see someone helping them.”
She likes being helpful to those who need it. Even when she has a busy schedule, she still manages to get stuff done and she recommends helping in food distributions because giving back to the community is important to help you learn new things, especially as a teenager.
“You learn to be a leader, to be working as a team, and you learn to help your community, because at the end of the day that’s our goal, to help our community somehow,” Beltran said.
“I think community service is important for teens because it inspires them to give back to the community and it helps to always be involved. It’s just a fun way to be able to help out there.”
Although she is very busy at times, she still manages her time and is doing a lot to get far in life, especially after graduation. Although she is nervous about going out into the world early, she is excited and knows she is ready to explore the world.
Seeing her mom work hard motivated Beltran to work hard on her goals as well. Beltran’s mom had her when she was in college and that really inspired her because her mom did not give up and kept going to college even when she had a kid to care for.
“My ROTC sergeant and my mom motivate me to accomplish my goals because my mom has made a lot of sacrifices for me. She’s the only one that I can truly say has believed in me since the beginning,” she said.
“My sergeant has always disciplined us and he never gave up even when everything was bad in his surroundings he’s always there standing and keeps going,” Beltran said. “I’m proud of never giving up because no matter how hard it is, I never give up and I’m gonna keep going even when many people tell me it’s a lost cause I’m gonna still keep going.”
Although she has gone through many tough obstacles, she always manages to find a way out and always will find a way out by not giving up and always trying when things get rough.
“Whoever’s reading this, just know that there’s always a way out, don’t give up even if it seems like it’s worthless. There’s always something you can get from it,” Beltran said.
Beltran is an inspiration to others and is a big help to our community. Although she doesn’t know everyone’s life stories or situations that they go through, she always does her best to help those in need. She is helpful to people and does not expect anything in return, she is proud of herself for achieving her goals and hopes to inspire others who are going through a rough time because there is always a way out of your situation no matter how hard it is.
