With graduation coming up very soon, I took this as a great opportunity for us to look at the people who made this possible. I asked seniors who their favorite teacher is and why.
Richard Aguilar:
My favorite teacher here at SBHS is Mr. Jones. The reason why he is my favorite teacher here is because he cares a lot about his students and he will go the extra mile to see his students succeed in his classroom and in life. Mr. Jones has taught me how to be accountable for anything I do in life and he has also taught me to be more responsible for my actions and my decisions I make in school or in my personal life.
Gustavo Abascal:
Mrs. Polk. She has consistently shown expectations and has been a great role model for what kind of students we should be. Mrs Polk has been one of the best science teachers I’ve had. Time after time wanted each of her students to push past the barrier of what they know but towards the goal of always getting it done one way or another.
Isabel Ruiz:
I would say my favorite teacher has to be Mrs Polk, she has been a huge influence in my doing well in school and has never failed to be a great teacher even on rougher days with her class. She has been someone I could come to with my issues and not be judged. Overall she’s not just a great teacher in the classroom but as well as outside of it.
Adamari Jimenez:
Mr. Battle is my favorite teacher because he’s always supported me, both in sports and in life. He’s always there to give me advice and new ideas on how to handle things. I really appreciate him.
Isabella Maldonado:
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Bunn because she always makes me feel welcomed and heard, and as someone who is naturally shy and quiet, I value that a lot. I love her chaotic personality also, it makes everything better.
Serenity Torres:
My favorite teacher is Ms. Wheeler. This is because although she is considered strict, I believe she has a lot of character and her personality is genuine and she is sweet. Also, her grading has helped me with meeting deadlines and actually being thorough with my work.
Isabelle Ramos:
I think my favorite teacher that I’ve learned from Mrs. Polk mostly because I love science and I love how serious she is about making sure we learn and she helped grow my love for chem and bio.
Janine Claudio:
One of my favorite teachers would have to be Ms. Luna, my freshman English teacher. I was new to the district, and she really helped me adjust by encouraging me and the other students to talk with each other. That made it easier for me to get to know new people. What I appreciated most was that she cared about more than just schoolwork. She always was interested in the things I was doing outside of class, like the shows I was watching. That made me feel seen and supported
Fatima Huerta:
I think Mrs. Wagner because she has the most balance with fun and working hard.
Jasmine Estrada:
My favorite teacher is Ms. Wagner because she is a great teacher yet very fun , kind, and patient. She made my senior year a lot more fun and interesting.
Jethzabel Ivarra:
My favorite teacher is Ms. Wagner because she makes learning fun, and is always so kind even when she isn’t feeling her best.
Alynah Inda:
Ms. Bunn because she is fun.
Jasmine Jacques:
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Polk. She is an awesome teacher and I feel that I have truly learned so much from her. She is always in a good mood and always seems engaged in her work. She is also a balanced teacher, with her classes being fun but we also have a lot expected from us. I loved taking Physiology with her as my teacher and had an even better time being in her AP Biology class.
Final Thoughts:
I think that it is important that we all take a moment to look back at the people who helped us, who pushed us, and who made us better people. Be grateful for those people because it is so easy to tear people down, but they didn’t. Instead, they helped you get up and stay up. So, be sure to show the people in your life that you care for them and give that same support to the people you meet.
