Cheerleader Marina Ceballos was questioned about her experience as a freshman student attending San Bernardino High School. Along with a bonus question asking her about any future plans she may have after graduation.

Jasmin Buenrostro: What was your first impression of SBHS?
Marina Ceballos: I was exposed to SBHS before I started here because I was on the cheer team, so my impression was that it was better than what people said.
JB: What were some of your thoughts on the first day of school?
MC: The campus seemed really big and if someone didn’t get a tour beforehand, then they’d get lost easily.
JB: How did your first week of school go?
MC: It was really tiring, I had two practices the first week. And it was a lot of repetitiveness like self-introductions and whatnot.
JB: How did you feel about the first-ever spirit week?
MC: I didn’t see anybody participating in it besides the teachers. I was one of the really, really, really few people that participated in it. And I think it’s a fun way to get the students to engage but most people don’t do it.
JB: How does the environment in SBHS make you feel?
MC: It was really crowded, but other than that, I felt pretty good. I didn’t feel anything negative.
JB: How do you plan on getting involved with the school?
MC: I’m already really involved in the school with me being a part of the cheer team so whenever it comes to games, rallies and performances, me and my team are always there.
JB: How does it feel to not be an 8th grader anymore?
MC: It’s definitely different and not only having more difficult classes, it’s also the format of the school that’s different from what we had in middle school.
JB: What do you want to do after high school?
MC: I’m thinking about taking a gap year and then hopefully going to Cal State San Bernardino so that I can continue to cheer.
