HOCC: Gustavo Abascal

An interview with Gustavo Abascal, a junior at San Bernardino High School. He was interviewed about school, sports, and changes he would make around the school.

Gustavo Abascal: I want to join soccer this year hopefully and if we have a boys volleyball team.

GA: I played in middle school, a little bit of volleyball. I played soccer for three years in elementary school.

GA: I played defense and middle.

GA: Soccer is fun because of the celebration afterwards. It’s very rewarding. I like volleyball because I like being the team leader.

GA: Stressful, lots of homework, and AP classes love to talk about the AP test at the end of the year. The hard classes are fun, just lots of assignments. Also, I feel like I’m learning more this year. Oh, and ceramics class is fun. We are just waiting for the ceramics part.

GA: The unnecessary benches and add a boys volleyball team. Oh, and add an Uber Eats line to order food and pay like $2 to wait in line and pick up your food. Like, If people want to order outside food they can pay a small fee to pick up their food. The money can also support whatever club. Also, change the time of classes to shorten them.

GA: It’s going to be a hard year, but a more educational year. Teachers are better and the hard classes are more educational. There’s a big difference from last year. Mr. Hinkleman makes me more interested in learning more.

GA: He’s very engaging and he has a way of walking through class, uses hand movements, and the way he presents.

GA: AP exams. You feel confident with learning and taking notes, but then you are hit with questions you don’t know. Also, time management, since we get out of school later.

GA: Events coming up like winter formal and prom. I’m interested in what they are going to do with it. Also, the rallies. I hope there are better rallies.
