An interview with Laniah Porter, a sophomore at San Bernardino High School. She was interviewed about school life and changes she would make to the school campus, along with her personal life.

Jasmine Jacques: What sports, activities, or clubs are you in?
Laniah Porter: I’m on the basketball team.
JJ: What is it like being on the basketball team?
LP: It’s good. I like being on the basketball team because it’s getting me in shape and I’m learning new things.
JJ: How has your first few weeks of school been for you?
LP: I was nervous at first because of new teachers, but after the first day it was good.
JJ: Do you have any favorite teachers or teachers you find interesting?
LP: Some teachers I find interesting are Mrs. Akahoshi and Mr. Smith.
JJ: Why do you find them interesting?
LP: I find them interesting because they teach and speak to students in a way that we understand better.
JJ: If you could change anything about the school, what would it be and why?
LP: I would change the time we get out of school and separate lunches because there’s too many kids. Also, make classes shorter.
JJ: How are you feeling about the rest of the year?
LP: I’m feeling good. I think this school year is going to be better than last school year.
JJ: Why is it that you feel this year will be better than last year?
LP: Because I am actually doing work and getting better grades than last year.
JJ: Is there anything you are excited for during the year like dances or other activities?
LP: I’m excited for dances coming up and basketball season. Also, I’m excited for the rallies.
JJ: What kind of music do you listen to?
LP: I like to listen to rap, hip hop, oldies, and R&B. I don’t know if R&B is the same as rap.
JJ: Do you have a favorite song or artist?
LP: My favorite song is “Wus Good/Curious.”
JJ: Do you have a favorite oldies song?
LP: My favorite oldies song is “Don’t Mind.”
JJ: What is your favorite school memory so far?
LP: I would have to say that my favorite school memory is that me and my friends all push each other to do better and get good grades in school.
JJ: What is your funniest school memory?
LP: My funniest memory this year would have to be when my friends fell down the bleachers at a rally.
