Carlos Robb Godoy is the captain of the boys tennis team and is a musician He is also a sound engineer and he participates in the community.
Daniel Arzaga: What do you think is a key element that you have that made you the captain of the tennis team?
Carlos Robb Godoy: The key element that I had was being determined to be there every practice and never put an excuse as to not practice and putting in the effort.
DA: How many years have you been on the tennis team and why are you interested?
CRG: I’ve been on the tennis team for two years, which is very little compared to everybody else in the team. So being the captain, and only having two years of experience has been a lot.
DA: When you’re done with high school, would you like to have a career?
CRG: When I’m done with high school, I want to be a musician. I want to pursue a career in music. I want to play guitar.
DA: What is a personality trait that makes you a good captain?
CRG: One personality that makes me a good captain is I am good at telling people what to do. I guess I have good leadership skills and I’m not afraid to be improved and wrong. I can listen to the people that I’m leading.
DA: What instruments do you play?
CRG: I play guitar, piano, drums, saxophone, cello, and bass.
DA: In what way do you try to be a positive role model or want to be a positive role model?
CRG: Being involved in everything in school. And still having good grades. Like, there’s people that are like, oh, I want to be in a sport. So I’m not gonna be able to be in music or I’m not gonna be able to have good grades. But I want to be an example that you can do sports and music and have good grades, all at the same time.
DA: How do you balance everything that you do?
CRG: I balance everything by being very conscious of what I have to do, like running stuff down on my notes, homework, being on top of my schedule, setting aside time for school, setting aside time for practice, and setting aside time for myself to stay sane.
DA: What made you want to help in the community like church and just being involved in the community?
CRG: I wanted to gain the experience of constantly working with a team with a band and being able to lead the band because I’m also the lead singer and the lead musician in the band And I just wanted to get into experiencing leading.
DA: What are some talents that you’re really really good at?
CRG: I’m really good at learning songs by ear. I’m really good at identifying the intervals and playing songs by ear on the guitar. And I’m really good at singing. As you can tell, my voice is all messed up from Sunday at church.
DA: What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
CRG: I see myself being financially stable in a band and being able to travel the world performing with a band.
DA: Why did you want to participate in Mr. Cardinal?
CRG: I wanted to gain the experience of public speaking, being confident in myself and being able to exploit the positive things about my life instead of just focusing on the negatives.
DA: If you weren’t the captain of the tennis team, who would you make as captain?
CRG: If I was not the captain, I would put my friend Alejandro because he would be a good role model. And he is a very, very smart and good leader.
DA: How do you handle disappointment?
CRG: I handle disappointment by focusing on fixing problems instead of exploiting the negatives. I focus on how we can make things better. What can I fix that wasn’t my fault? What can I do better and how can I focus on moving on and be better.
