Have you heard about the famous game Minecraft before? Well they made a movie about it. Have you watched the new Minecraft movie? Do you have any thoughts? Well, I did.
As a fan of the game, I went to the movie theatres to watch it. From what I saw in other people’s stories, with quotes like “the movie is acceptable.” I went to the movies with my family. Talking about an 8-year-old and a 9-year-old with 3 teens. The young ones reacted more than the teens when it was funny, while the teens reacted more when a game-related scene popped up.
Either way, I enjoyed the movie, mostly the fighting scenes because it brought in game mechanics and it made game-like sense.. I like the memes that were made from the movie. The movie also reminded me of different movies. For example, “The Super Mario Bros Movie.” It is another movie about a famous video game and it’s similar to the Minecraft movie because it also has adventures, and the different worlds that the characters go to. There is plenty of action and comedy in both films. Another film that the Minecraft movie reminded me of is Dungeons & Dragons. People from the real world going inside of a game with dangers and peaceful times adding action and funny scenes.
Overall the expectations of the movie for me was that they tried to make it close to the game but failed at the same time. For example, we didn’t get to see a heart bar, a hotbar (where it shows what your character is carrying with them), nor did it show your hunger bar. Even if it is missing all this, the Minecraft movie itself got a lot of attention from many people all over the internet, and it got more popular than ever. I enjoyed the characters because they all had different traits or themes. I also like how Jack Black played as Steve, he’s quite known for family and comedy films which the Minecraft movie is ranked in. After all, I liked the balance from how the movie shifts from a serious plot to a non serious one.
If you want to feel like a kid again, I recommend you watch the movie and play the game. I’ll rate it a 9/10 Experience points. It was a Experience in that movie theatre.
