
Mia Martinez is participating In Miss Cardinal. She loves seeing back in the day movies and wants to create her own movie in the future. She is a quiet person and has good intentions on helping SBHS.
What does success mean to you?
What success means to me is achieving in what I want to achieve, with no regrets. At a point in my life where I’m living with that feeling of comfort and nothing is getting in my mind in a negative way. I’m confident and assured that I feel relief, where I’m not surrounded by stress or blockages that are holding me back. I’m at a stress free state of mind where I live in comfort.
Why is community service important to you in your opinion?
Community service is important because It gets you involved in what your community has to offer and helps you, and also has the ability to help others without getting something in return.
What advice would you give to someone facing a difficult situation?
The advice I would give them is to never lose hope and to keep thriving and do what you can. Never give up no matter what.
If you met someone from another country who didn’t know anything about America, what would you want them to know?
I would want them to know what America has to offer them, like better education than other places and somewhat better protection than other places.
If you win, what impact would you make?
If I win, I would get members of San Bernardino together and help make San Bernardino a better place and do what we can in our power or to spread positivity and make our community better by actually taking action and working with others.
What is your favorite subject and why?
My favorite subject is AP government or anything history because I really love learning the structure of government and what has happened in the country we live in and why things are the way they are.
What is one thing you want to accomplish in the future?
One thing I want to accomplish is making my own movies and I would really like to put my talent and showcase my talent by using my creativity to create a movie that I made and wrote.
What advice would you give a young girl/boy?
Advice I would give is to study and take studies seriously, go to class and try to get involved with your community. Don’t let others discourage you because only you know what you are capable of;don’t give up.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself already graduated from university and hopefully get my way up somewhere in the film industry and hopefully in the works of writing a script of a movie I plan to make.
What is your favorite thing about water polo?
My favorite thing about the water polo team is during water polo games you really have to push yourself to limits you don’t think you can handle. It gets very frustrating. It makes you feel tired and stuff but you have to push yourself the whole game and the girls are nice.
What is the biggest challenge facing young people today?
The biggest challenge young people are facing today is jealousy and insecurity because when they are insecure, they often get jealous of others and can’t make their own choices or they feel vulnerable making their own choices.
What do you want your generation to be remembered for?
I want my generation to be remembered as hard workers. People who try to make a difference in the community and around the world.
How can we better promote volunteerism In our school?
We can set up flyers or set up announcements where we give out information and details about volunteering opportunities so people can get interested and learn more about the programs.
Who do you think are the worst role models for young people ?
Influencers or celebrities who framed themselves as to be natural for this certain look. They often get surgeries and people could feel insecure, to get the same and change their appearance to set up a beauty standard.
What is the most important thing parents should tell their children?
One thing parents should tell their children is to not worry about anything and don’t change themselves . You have unique things that other people can’t have and you’re your own person, do not change yourself standards to other people’s standards.
Why did you want to compete for Miss cardinal?
I wanted to compete for Miss Cardinal because it’s my senior year and I wanted to step out of my comfort zone by participating in this pageant. I have seen this pageant in person since my sophomore year and I thought it would be very interesting for me to try out. I also believe that this would help me get the chance to be more involved with my own community and get to do things that I haven’t done before.
