Angel Jauregui is a soft spoken quiet kid who usually stays to himself but is outgoing and nice. Angel is a Mr. Cardinal contestant who has nothing but good intentions to help SBHS.
Xavier Alvarez: Why are you actively competing in the Mr. Cardinal?
Angel Jauregui: I’m just doing it for fun. I have no motive to win to be honest.
XA: Is there a reason you don’t really care about winning?
AJ: Because I’m just doing it for fun, not really taking it too seriously.
XA: Was there anybody in the past, a family member or a friend, who may have inspired you to pursue this competition?
AJ: No, there’s no one I know that has competed in this in the past.
XA: I’ve heard you are a very friendly person. Can you give me an example of what makes you friendly?
AJ: I just don’t like conflict. I’d rather just be chill with everyone rather than fight.
XA: Do you think your friendly personality will help you in your competition?
AJ: I think it wouldn’t help actually because I have to present and I’m very shy about that. I hate presenting, so I dont think it’s going to really help me a lot.
XA: Is there a reason you hate presenting?
AJ: I don’t like talking in front of a lot of people.
XA: Does your friendly personality help you get a lot of friends?
AJ: I do have some friends, not a lot though.
XA: What are a few qualities you wish to improve on and why?
AJ: I think talking out loud and I want to present better.
XA: When was the last time you had to work for something or compete for something?
AJ: I think everyday trying to work harder to get better grades.
XA: Tell me something about yourself that we don’t know about you?
AJ: I like to read and watch tv shows; also I’m not very social. I do have some friends, but not a whole lot.
XA: Also do you have any social media?
AJ: I have Instagram and Tik Tok, but I don’t really go on social media that much.
XA: Is there a reason for you not going on it that much?
AJ: I just prefer to stay off of it because most things on social media are negative.
XA: Do you enjoy being a student at SBHS?
AJ: I do.
XA: Why do you like it?
AJ: Because I like the friends I have here.
XA: What is your favorite thing about SBHS?
AJ: There’s a lot of different clubs, a lot of sports. There’s something for everyone.
XA: How would you describe SBHS to someone who has never been here before?
AJ: I would say funny because there’s always something dumb happening here, like fights.
XA: What emotions do you experience around the students here at SBHS?
AJ:I would just say happy.
XA: Why do you have these feelings about the students?
AJ: I barely know anyone here so I don’t have mixed emotions about them. I don’t know who they are so they don’t bother me. I don’t bother them so it’s a good vibe.
XA: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
AJ: In college.
XA: Is there a particular college you want to go to?
AJ: I want to go to UCR, UC Riverside.
XA: If you win, what kind of impact will you make?
AJ: To be honest I haven’t thought about it yet. I think I just want to be more involved in the school.
XA: Why would you want to become more involved with the school?
AJ: Because from my sophomore to my senior year I only did a few things. I did two years of tennis so for my last year, I want to be out there and more active in school.
XA If you could get one message out to the world, what would it be?
AJ: Just be friendly. There’s no reason to be mad. Mad is just a feeling, just get over it.
XA: Is community service important to you?
AJ: It is actually. It helps me get involved with my community. I like to volunteer for my church, volunteer for homeless and orphans; it helps me see what life really is about from a different view.
XA: What is the biggest challenge facing young people today?
AJ: I feel that we are not that active anymore because of phones and technology.
XA: Is there anything you would want to be better here at SBHS?
AJ: I want less fights because last year there were a lot.
