Have you ever made reference to something and everyone was confused? Even when you said “Grease Lightning” nothing was clicking? Or even when you sang the songs no one joined you. Me neither, that’s why I was so shocked when I found out how many people don’t know about this classic.

The movie that I am speaking of is “Grease.”. It is known by many but also unknown by many. A great movie to watch to see what life was like back then.

This rom-com musical was released in 1978. It was written and directed by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The story all started when an Australian woman named Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) fell in love with an American Danny (John Travolta) during the summer, and thought they were never going to see each other again. Later they go to the same high school and Danny has a completely different personality than what Sandy remembers so it causes conflicts in their relationship. 

Along with the conflicts of the groups the T Birds and Pink ladies and how they go from enemies to lovers, I think that is what makes it stand out. On how both sides can be so bitter toward each other and become together. Something that also stood out to me is how we knew every character just enough, and they wouldn’t get repetitive. Such as Rizzo and her blunt personality, Marty and her obsession with boys, Sunny and how only flies hang around him. I think that separates it from other classic movies.

This movie is a great watch, especially if you haven’t seen it; it is a good refresher from all these bland and reused movie plots. One that is a classic and original. All the songs in this movie are absolutely great. Every song will have you wanting to replay it. I know them all by heart. My favorite song in the movie is “Sandy.” This is my favorite song mainly because of the scenery and the situation. Danny had disrespected Sandy while watching a movie at a drive-in, which left him stranded at the drive-on. It made him realize how much he loved Sandy and how much her leaving is hurting him. I love the scenery because of the movie that is in the background when Danny is sitting on a swing singing. There is a hot dog dancing and acting while the song is going on. Not to mention that it is a love song and those are my favorite types of song. 

Overall I love this movie. It is one of my favorites. It never fails to make me laugh, always a good watch. When I watch it I find myself watching it time and time again. The actors?  Perfect. Music? Perfect. Plot? Perfect. I truly believe there is nothing wrong with this movie and I would definitely recommend this movie to anybody. I rate this movie 10 lightning bolts out of 10!!
